If you collect or even just have an appreciation for sports cards (baseball, football, basketball and several others), head to the Northeast Sports Card Expo this weekend. There, you’ll find more than 200 vendor tables selling thousands of cards. The Grading Authority will also be there offering card-grading services. The expo also features opportunities to get autographs from several athletes, including former Boston Bruins players Ken Hodge Jr., former New England Patriots player Roland James and Pro Women’s Hockey League players Jillian Dempsey and Gigi Marvin, among others. Maine high school and college star athletes Kaylyn Bourque and Amber Bretton will also be there. The first 200 attendees on each day will receive a commemorative poster designed by Portland artist Max Ervin.
Portland Lantern Walk

Portland Lantern Walk, presented by Friends of Deering Oaks, is a community celebration that features food, singing and a visually extraordinary walk. Attendees can assemble at 5 p.m. for snacks, followed by a performance from singer-songwriter Emilia Dahlin at 5:15 p.m. The lantern walk makes its way around the park starting at 6 p.m. On the day of the walk, a free lantern-making workshop will happen from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the farmers market at the park. All materials will be supplied.

Make the York Beach Ball Field by Short Sands Beach your Saturday destination. The almost four-decade-old Harvest Festival features a wide range of local food, juried crafters and an old-fashioned market with vendors from Maine and the rest of New England. The younger set will enjoy Kidsfest with storytelling, a roaming railroad and other interactive activities. The Don Campbell Band and singer-songwriter Dan Blakeslee will be performing. Blakeslee will also provide Halloween-themed entertainment as his alter ego, Dr. Gasp.

Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival

Pump up your Saturday fun with a trip to Freeport for the annual Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival that takes over the L.L. Bean campus with thousands of carved pumpkins. Festivities commence at the strike of noon with music, food, kids’ activities and free, take-home pumpkins. The children’s costume parade is at 3 p.m. There will be live music all day and thousands of pumpkins will be lit at dusk. All funds raised go toward supporting Camp Sunshine’s mission of providing hope, joy and community for kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Pittie Possie Presents: Bad Reputation

Here’s a chance to see a fabulous performance while also helping out some four-legged friends. Lady Luck Burlesque’s Bad Reputation show is a benefit for the Maine nonprofit Pittie Possie Rescue & Sanctuary. The foster-based group rescues pit bulls then provides them with rehabilitation, training and, best of all, connects them with a forever home. The rock ‘n’ roll-themed, leather-studded evening will be a wild ride. VIP tickets include preferred seating, entry to win a photo op with the dancers and event merchandise. This is a pittie party that will be entirely pawsome.

As singer Taylor Swift’s Eras tour gears up for its final string of dates next month, you can hit the dance floor now for a DJ night of Swift tunes in Portland. Bracelet trading is encouraged as you sing along and dance to tracks from Swift’s many albums. You can do it with a broken heart, wearing a cardigan in a lavender haze of musical bliss. This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel; it’s the State Theatre.
