In Path of Exile; Necropolis, GGG have made a massive overhaul to the Atlas Passive Tree, shaking things up in a big way. This is one of many Endgame updates you can learn about in our Patch Notes article!
You can theory craft your own farming strategies with the changes using our Atlas Passive Tree updated for 3.24. Remember to select the 3.24 version and you're good to go.
Atlas Loadouts
It is finally possible to save up to 3 Atlas Tree loadouts to use between different strategies, this makes transitioning from an early game strategy into an endgame one much easier. It is also a very nice quality of life change for when you feel like farming something different.
Passive Changes
Removed
- Stream of Consciousness
- Growing Hordes
- Destructive Play
- Throw the Gauntlet
- Grand Design
- Wandering Path
- The Seventh Gate
- All Hands
- Memento Mori
- Thirst for Knowledge
- Cosmic Wounds
- The Perfect Storm
- Insatiable Appetite
Milky's Thoughts: The biggest loss here, especially for Magic Finders, is Wandering Path. The update does add new wheels that grant increased effect of modifiers to compensate in some ways. Previously wandering path increased the total effect of the small nodes from 30% to 60%. It is now possible to achieve 85%+ increased effect at the cost of additional points.
Added
- Thorough Exploration - If there are fewer than 50 monsters remaining in your maps, final map bosses are empowered by Affliction Wisps.
- Back to Basics - Your maps randomly have between 0 and 80% more modifier effect. Extra content cannot appear in your maps. Cannot apply influence to your maps.
- Unwavering - Grants 20 Atlas Passive Skill Points, but makes it so Scarabs cannot be found in your maps. Your maps cannot be modified by fragments other than Divine Vessels.
- Twist of Fate - Your Corrupted Rare Maps and any Map crafting options applying to them to be modified unpredictably when opened, with Maps modified in this way having 1-3 additional random Map Modifiers.
Notable Changes
- 3 new wheels have been added that grant increased effect of modifiers on your maps. This compensates in some ways for the loss of Wandering Path.
- 7 new wheels have been added related to Scarabs;
- Significant Troves - Unique Monsters in your Maps have 200% increased chance to drop Scarabs.
- Skittering Swarms - 12% Increased Scarabs found in your Maps.
- Remarkable Relics - Scarabs found in your maps are more likely to be less common varieties.
- Chittering Champions - Final Map Boss in each map has 25% chance to drop an additional Scarab.
- The small Atlas passives granting "Your maps have +% chance to contain" have been buffed. For example;
- Beyond - 100%; up from 30%
- Harvest - 100%; up from 45%
- Expedition - 100%; up from 48%
- Blight - 100%; up from 30%
- The "blocking" nodes such as Dimensional Barrier, also now prevent you from dropping Scarabs related to that content. They also only effect other mechanics that can be blocked, preventing you from increasing the number of Strongboxes, Essences and Harbingers etc.
Necropolis Atlas Passives
For the first time, GGG are adding support to the current league mechanic straight onto the Atlas Passive Tree. Visit the Patch Notes to learn more about the Necropolis League Mechanic!
Keystones
- Prospero's Wager - All Corpses with Unresolved Anguish in your Maps have 'Reveals a Random Craft when Buried'.
- This removes the option to focus your crafting with specific modifiers and will instead result in a completely random option.
- Fear of the Light - "Haunted Modifiers are applied randomly to Packs in your Maps", "Monster Packs in your Maps have a 25% chance to have an additional Haunted Modifier", and "Embers of the Allflame cannot be found in your Maps"
- Before entering a Map you will no longer have to apply your Haunted Modifiers manually. This will most likely yield much less rewards, but removes a lot of the micromanagement from the mechanic.

Scarabs
A large focus of the changes to the Atlas Tree revolve around the newly updated Scarabs. New Atlas notables were added to increase the chance for you to drop Scarabs as well as increase the chance for a specific type of Scarab.
There are now 5 different tiers of Scarabs; Rusted, Polished, Gilded, Winged and Anarchy. Each one has a unique effect and Scarabs of the same type can now be stacked together. There is also, a "Limit" to Scarabs implying you can use multiple of the exact same Scarab.
Importantly, not all the scarabs grant the mechanic itself, so you'll have to plan your Atlas Tree or other Scarabs to guarantee an encounter within each map. Fortunately, a large amount of the Atlas Passive points that granted a chance for content to appear in your maps have been buffed substantially.
Kirac Changes
Don't be too concerned about the loss of The Seventh Gate, as in the Necropolis League, Kirac has been updated to have all of the options available at all times. The 5th map device slot is now unlocked by completing a Tier 17 Map.
- Fortune Favours the Brave (costs 3 Chaos Orbs): One of the options available from this device will be applied at random, including options you have not yet unlocked.
