FSU has 11 commits in their 2025 recruiting class right now
Zach Blostein
Florida State's on-field play has obviously not been pretty this season, starting 1-5 with losses to Georgia, Boston College, Memphis, SMU and Clemson through six weeks.
Typically, the direct result of struggles on the field are negative impacts on the recruiting trail and we've seen a few prospects decommit from the Seminoles already in four-star defensive linemen Myron Charles and Javion Hilson as well as four-star wide receiver Malik Clark.
FSU sits with 11 players pledged to their 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 35 nationally, right now. So how locked in are FSU's remaining commits?
We'll categorize the commits in one of four categories related to how we feel about their commitment status to Florida State:
Very Solid
Solid
Shaky
Flip Watch
3-star QB Tramell Jones Jr.
Commitment Status: Very Solid
Tramell Jones committed to Florida State in April of 2023 and despite a few months in the spring and into the summer where it felt like he could flip to Florida, he shut down his recruitment towards the end of summer and has remained solid with the Seminoles since. We've heard nothing to suggest the Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin native is shaky in his pledge to this point.
3-star RB Byron Louis
Commitment Status:Very Solid
Byron Louis is FSU's newest commitment in the 2025 class, pledging to the Seminoles following FSU's win over California last month. The running back out of American Heritage High School in South Florida believes in Mike Norvell and the direction of the program -- so that has him solid with his pledge to the 'Noles.
4-star WR CJ Wiley
Commitment Status: Shaky
CJ Wiley made a surprise move during the summer when he spurned percieved favorite Georgia for Florida State. The four-star wideout out of Milton (Ga.) came into the 2024 season solid with the Seminoles, months removed from his commitment, however due to FSU's struggling start, the Bulldogs -- who were always going to fight until the end -- have heavily emerged into the picture. Auburn and LSU are both making a move as well but UGA is the biggest threat to FSU for Wiley right now and the 6-foot-4 pass catcher was in Athens this past weekend for their win over Auburn. I think Wiley eventually flips to the Bulldogsat some point.
4-star WR Daylan McCutcheon
Commitment Status: Shaky
Daylan McCutcheon was a big get for FSU during the summer as the Lovejoy (Tex.) standout chose the 'Noles over USC, Texas and a number of other top programs. Like with Wiley, some of those teams are using FSU's failures on the field this season to get back in the picture with McCutcheon. The two promiment programs involved now are Texas and Texas A&M and he visited both programs within the last few weeks. I think the Longhorns, if they push, can flip McCutcheon at some point -- so I have him labeled as shaky when it comes to his commitment to FSU.
3-star TE Chase Loftin
Commitment Status: Solid
FSU beat out programs like Missouri, Nebraska and Texas A&M for Nebraska-based tight end Chase Loftin over the summer. Loftin has strong relationships with several members of FSU's coaching staff and while I'm sure other programs are working hard to flip him, the 'Noles will be able to play some defense here as they look to hold onto their lone tight end pledge.
5-star OL Solomon Thomas
Commitment Status:Solid
If there is a prospect FSU MUST keep in their 2025 class, it's top-ranked commit Solomon Thomas, a five-star offensive lineman out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines. Thomas has said all the right things about the Seminoles, despite their struggles on the field, however whenever you have a prospect as talented as Thomas, it's a given that other programs will be relentless in trying to flip him. I have him labeled as solid right now but I can certainly see this one getting dicey in the future.
4-star iOL Peyton Joseph
Commitment Status: Very Solid
Houston County (Ga.) four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph, following FSU's loss to Memphis last month, announced that he was shutting down his recruitment to other schools. That's good news for the Seminoles as they look to bolster their offensive line -- which has struggled mightily this season.
4-star DL Kevin Wynn
Commitment Status:Flip Watch
I've been banging the drum for several weeks now that Kevin Wynn, the four-star defensive line commit out of Greene County (Ga.),is theFSU commit that I'm most concerned about a potential flip right now. Georgia is in hot pursuit and Texas, South Carolina, Tennessee and Colorado are all making efforts to land the Peach State native. Wynn did return to FSU's campus for the Clemson game this past weekend and had positive things to say afterwards.
3-star LB Ethan Pritchard
Commitment Status: Very Solid
Ethan Pritchard, one of FSU's longest tenured commits in their 2025 class, is a man of few words but he has not displayed any signs of wavering in his commitment to Florida State to this point. The three-star linebacker out of Sanford (Fla.) Seminole was being courted by UCF in the summer but that has seem to fizzle out as of late.
4-star DB Zae Thomas
Commitment Status:Solid
FSU beat out Clemson for four-star defensive back Zae Thomas in June but other schools have not let up here. He told Noles247 last month that Alabama was involved with him and working to get him on campus this season. Thomas has deep ties to FSU due to his Seminole heritage and his relationship with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. but it's worth monitoring if he steps foot on any other campuses moving forward.
3-star DB Max Redmon
Commitment Status: Very Solid
FSU landed the commitment of South Florida defensive back Max Redmon in the summer after Mike Norvell evaluated him a year before at a sattelite camp. Redmon hasn't shown any signs of not being fully committed to the Seminoles, despite the rough start.
